
Advancing Treatment: The Effects of Sports Medicine

Abstract
According to the US Department of Health and Human Services, there are approximately 8.6 million reported sports injuries annually. Each year the number of people participating in athletics grows due to the wider interest in sports and new sports being created. Along with a large number of participants comes a great number of injuries. All of these injuries require medical attention and treatment. With the overwhelming amount of patients, the field of sports medicine must advance its techniques. Sports medicine has advanced very quickly and developed many new procedures. All together this creates the effect that sports medicine has on athletics.
Biography

Cole Finkbeiner was born on February 7, 2002, in Pensacola, Florida. He lived in Florida, South Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Cole enjoys a variety of sports, as well as working out, and music. Cole will be attending Virginia Commonwealth University in the fall for the next four years.
Cole chose to study sports medicine for his thesis due to his great interest in sports and the process of recovering once injured. He finds interest in the field of sports medicine and plans to study this during his college career. The process of the thesis contained five projects in which the topic was researched and can be viewed in each of their pages.
